Kadir Tung studied bioengineering at the University of California San Diego, driven by a desire to help people. A Muslim Chinese American, he reconnected with his creed in college by joining the Muslim Student Association and cemented his identity. He would continue his higher education at UCSD to graduate with a Master’s in Bioengineering. Though he initially wanted to help others by fighting disease through research, his time with the MSA taught him that most of humanity’s ills are man-made, and that justice would do far more than research. Kadir eventually joined the Muslim American Society, first starting out with MAS Youth, and finally finding his calling with Give San Diego. He uses his technical background to help with data management side to better keep track of the needs of the underserved population.
