Sozan Farsakh, is the director & co-founder of Give San Diego. She creativity came up with the name for the food assistance program, Yusuf’s Pantry, in honor of prophet Yusuf or Joesph who in all the three major monotheistic religions believe he saved an entire nation from starvation. Sozan, holds a Master’s degree in Public Health and worked for the County of San Diego. She often visited different parts of the world and witnessed tragedies of war. She knew early on that she wanted to help educate, and empower the victims of war and underserved populations. She has a background in research especially among Arab Americans and has over fifteen years of community organizing and nonprofit work.
